The Hearth of Love
by Earl Bergland, 1971

You who are delighted to peek in love's window
Are to be commended for your humbleness.
Those standing at love's threshold content feeling
Warmth is nearby are a credit to civilized man.

Ah, love's door must be flung open.
Wade deep within the hearth's embers
To flare and smelter as lava serpents
Till tempering the magic diamond.
